From Ahmad Muhammadu, in  Bauchi
The Bauchi State Police Command has carried out a successful rescue operation of kidnapped victims, leading to the killing of one bandit and recovery of one AK-47 rifle in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the State.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil said this to reporters on behalf of the Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command.
Wakil said “On 9th August 2025, at about 06:00 o’clock in the Morning, the Command received critical information from attentive residents of Yalo and Mansur regarding an incident that transpired on 8th August 2025 at about 2:30am. Suspected bandits launched an attack on Kataraje village, via Kalgo and Alkaleri village, located in the Gwana District of the Yankari Game Reserve.
“During this assault, two individuals were abducted, namely, Alh. Ango Mallam Idi, aged 60 years-old, and Musa Alhaji Shumo, aged 35-year-old.
” Unfortunately, two additional residents, Rabiu Alhaji Sale, aged 50-year-old, and Alhaji Sale Akko, aged 45-year-old, sustained injuries during the incident”.
He said “Following the alarming report, the Command’s joint operations team swiftly mobilised to the scene. Immediate medical assistance was provided to the injured, and efforts were undertaken to identify and track the assailants. During this pursuit, operatives encountered the suspected bandits, resulting in a gun duel. Owing to the tactical proficiency and superior firepower of the operatives, one bandit was successfully neutralised at the scene, accompanied by the recovery of one AK-47 rifle”
PPRO said: “The Command is pleased to announce that all hostages were rescued unharmed and have been safely reunited with their families.
Wakil said the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Police Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commends the operatives for their exemplary courage and steadfast dedication to protecting the community.
He said the Bauchi State Command remains resolutely committed to its mandate of maintaining public order and safeguarding citizens’ lives and property from criminal merchants desperate to make a living at the expense of law-abiding citizens.”
