From Abdullahi Shugaba, Katsina

The Jigawa State Government has dispatched a high level delegation of Laboratory Scientists and Technical Team from Jigawa Research Institute (JRI) Kazaure, to Katsina to collect samples of Organomineral Fertilizer produced by Heritage Fertilizer Company and Agrichitech for nutrient and quality analysis for recommendation to the State Government for onward distribution to farmers in the state.

This was made known in a statement issued by the Institute’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Malam Aminu Bashir in Kazaure.

Bashir said the delegation to Katsina State was led by the Director General (DG) of the Reseach Institute, Dr. Suleiman Rufa’i Babura.

He noted that the essence of the visit by the team is to inspect and certify the fertilizer and make recommendation to the government.

The PRO said the team observed the blending plant and saw how the Organomineral fertilizer is being produced as well as obtained the fertilizer to go and do a random sampling to certify the quality of the product.

The PRO disclosed that during the visit, both parties held fruitful discussions which centred on fertiliser production, quality assurance, and agricultural development.

Speaking during the inspection, the DG of JRI Dr. Suleiman Rufa’i Babura expressed satisfaction with the company’s operational standards and the fertiliser production processes in the plant.

Babura said that the purpose of their visit was to collect the samples of the fertilizer for further laboratory analysis before presenting their recommendations to the State Government for necessary action.

He noted that the visit forms part of Jigawa State ongoing efforts to ensure that farmers across the State have access to effective and high quality agricultural inputs.

“It is for this reason that the Research Institute always conducts research that will ensure sustainable farming systems in the state in line with the cardinal principles of governor, Malam Umar Namadi’s policy in agriculture”.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Organomineral Fertilizer Heritage, Dr.Mustapha Radda thanked the Jigawa State Government for sending the delegation to come and inspect and certify the Organomineral fertilizer.

Radda told the delegation that the company is a private limited liability company with expertise knowledge in Organomineral fertilizer production sourced from local components and natural resources with high nutrient contents which is very effective for crop production.

The MD said the aim and objective of establishing the company is to make fertilizer cheap and affordable to local farmers for agricultural development to ensure food security in the country and avoid over dependence on chemical fertilizer for food production.

The MD said the difference between organomineral fertilizer and chemical fertilizer is; chemical fertilizer has quick release of nutrients while organomineral fertilizer retains soil texture and fertility through organic matters,

According to him, organomineral fertilizer is environmental friendly and less harmful to human life.

Radda noted that the organomineral fertilizer has water-holding capacity in the soil.
which can boost nutrients that can invariably reduce loses in harvest.

He further explained that Organomineral fertilizer is an initiative that is very effective in the production of crops like; rice, wheat/barely, maize, sorghum, beans, sesame, groundnuts tomatoes,
water melon onions, pepe, carrot, root crops like yams, potatoes, ginger among others.

The MD announced that the company, apart from fertilizer production, it organizes seminars and workshops for farmers on new agricultural techniques.

The MD/CEO of Organomiral Fertilizer company expressed appreciation to Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda who tested and trusted the fertilizer and purchased them and distributed to farmers across the state.

He also thanked farmers and cooperative societies in the State for patronizing the fertilizer.
