From Joseph Uchenna, Makurdi
The National Secretary of the Rainbow Coalition Austin Agada has said that the coalition is mobilizing support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, but will not work for Benue State Governor Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia’s re-election.
Agada who said this while speaking with journalists in Makurdi on Friday at the distribution of empowerment items by senator Titus Zam, insisting that Benue State Governor Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia is not known to them and they will not support his aspiration for a second term in office.
According to him, the coalition welcomes all political parties supporting the President’s re-election.
He said that any state or Governor that understands what the rainbow coalition is and have paid their dues for the coalition will receive the support of the coalition.
He added, “all political parties are part of the rainbow coalition and don’t forget that all the governorship candidates in the state have their root from the APC.
“Alia has not engaged the coalition. The coalition does not know him. He has not done anything to give us a reason even his own party, the APC to support him. When he gives that reason, we will support him but if not, he should forget about it.
“The APC is doing all it can to have a governorship candidate. The President gave a proposal to the state that every incumbent should go for a second term at a peace meeting presided by the Secretary to Government of the Federation in May held at the Government House, Makurdi.
“The SGF had said that he does refuse the request of Mr President. We accepted the proposal but the Governor refused it and sponsored people to contest the primaries and even when the party leadership decided to enforce the decision of the National party, the Governor sent the likes of Suswam to contest the national leadership decision by going to court.
“So, if he has no respect for the party, the President and the national chairnan of the party, then the party will teach him a lesson”.
