The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Ex-Officio Forum has expressed profound outrage and unequivocal condemnation over the recent unlawful invasion of the party’s National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, by Senator Sam Anyanwu and his band of political desperadoes.

The Forum described the incident, which included the destruction of press equipment, the harassment of journalists, violent attack on the dedicated workers of the Secretariat and the purported suspension of the National Chairman, Amb. Umar Iliya Damagun, the Deputy National Chairman (South), Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, and other loyal party leaders as a reckless display of political lawlessness and an affront to democratic decency.

In a strongly worded communique, the Forum decried what it called ‘the ignoble actions of these anti-party lords’ as a direct assault on the soul of the PDP, a brazen violation of the party’s constitution, and an open declaration of war against internal democracy.

The forum, in the the communique signed by Hon. (Engr.) Clement O. Faboyede, Chairman and Mrs. Hassan Comfort Secretary described the orchestrators of “this shameful episode” as political adventurers driven by greed, ego, and desperation—men who have chosen chaos over consensus and destruction over discipline.

According to the statement, “What transpired at Wadata Plaza was not just an attack on individuals, but an attempt to desecrate the sanctity of an institution built on decades of sacrifice, vision, and democratic commitment. “Those behind this inglorious plot have only succeeded in exposing their disdain for order and their contempt for the collective will of millions of PDP faithful nationwide”, it said.

The Forum praised Justice A.L. Akintola of the Oyo State High Court for his courageous, historic, and patriotic ruling of 3rd November 2025, which affirmed the legality of the forthcoming PDP National Convention scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Forum described the judgment as a triumph of justice over impunity, and a resounding victory for democracy, due process, and institutional integrity.

“Justice Akintola’s verdict rekindles faith in the Nigerian judiciary as the true custodian of democratic stability and fairness,” the Forum noted.

“In moments when democracy is under siege by internal saboteurs, it is men of conscience like Justice Akintola who remind us that the rule of law remains the last fortress of the people’s will”, it added.

Reaffirming its total allegiance to the leadership of Amb. Umar Iliya Damagun, the legitimate National Chairman of the PDP, the Forum vowed to remain resolute, united, and steadfast in defending the integrity and progressive vision of the party.

“We stand firm and unshaken behind Amb. Umar Damagun—an emblem of stability, inclusiveness, and credible leadership,” the Forum declared.

“Under his watch, the PDP has continued to pursue peace, reconciliation, and reform. The party shall never be hijacked by opportunists or held hostage by self-seeking elements intoxicated by power and ambition”, it added.

The Forum called on all genuine party members, organs, and stakeholders across Nigeria to remain calm, focused, and unwavering in their commitment to the ideals of the PDP, assuring that truth, justice, and the rule of law will ultimately prevail over impunity and disorder.

The Forum has therefore urged security agencies and all relevant authorities to rise in defence of democracy by protecting the sanctity of the PDP’s national institutions and ensuring that the perpetrators of this anti-party assault are held accountable under the law.
