From Uthman Abubakar, in Maiduguri
A Maiduguri-based singer, Tahir Adam Saleh, has blasted his Northern colleagues for preferring to promote politicians in their songs than draw global attention to the insecurity and economic hardships ravaging the region.
Zakiru Tahir was commenting at the weekend over the raging public criticism against the popular Hausa political singer, Dauda Abdullahi Kahutu Rarara, for his alleged insensitivity to the persistence insecurity across the region.
“It is unfortunate that a Northern singer will choose to promote politicians in his songs as insecurity and worsening hardship which even the politicians themselves suffer,” he posited in a chat with our correspondent.
Zakiru Tahir pleaded with Northern singers to de-emphasize the promotion of politicians and develop concerted efforts to sensitize the global community to the pathetic state of the region.
Zakiru Tahir, who has been a popular praise-singer for Prophet Muhammad since 2005, vowed not to shift preference from advancing the course of Islam and the pathetic situation of Northern Nigeria to politicians.
He advised his Northern colleagues to tone down their insulting and abusive languages in the songs to promote peace and political stability across the North and the entire country. ENDS
