Troops from Sector 1 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) successfully rescued six kidnapped victims in the Kajuru/Kujama area of Kaduna State.
The rescue operation, which took place on January 5, 2026, was part of a broader coordinated effort to combat violent extremism in the region.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Shuaib Umar, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, the troops responded quickly to a distress alert regarding violent extremists in the Kasso adjoining hills.
The troops engaged the criminals with effective suppressive fire, forcing them to flee, and subsequently rescued the six victims.
The rescued individuals were handed over to representatives from the Kajuru Local Government Area and the Kajuru Emirate Council for reunification with their families.
Major General Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed Wase, General Officer Commanding/Commander of Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, praised the troops for their bravery and urged them to remain vigilant.
The operation aimed to restrict the activities of violent extremists within the Joint Operations Area and was conducted across multiple locations, including Chikun, Kajuru, Kachia, and Kagarko Local Government Areas.
