From Sidi Ibrahim Kaulahi, in Gusau

The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has charged Police personnel operating under the Zamfara State Police Command not to be scared, retreat or surrender for criminals whose dirty job is to deny enjoyment of peace for the teeming citizens in the state.

He urged them to remove bandits and other criminals from the surface of the earth where necessary.

IGP Disu made the charge at the Zamfara Police Command on Tuesday after the burial of the slain officers who lost their lives on Monday while on official duty along Anka-Bagega road where an IED exploded in the course of deactivating it for the sake of public safety.

The IGP further encouraged the Police personnel to remain brave in the fight against bandits, ensuring all needed welfare and logistics, adding that the federal government under the leadership of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the Force Headquarters, as well as all other security agencies are solidly with the Police..

“Let me at this juncture, call on you with a laudable voice, that you must double your efforts to ensure total denial of all the chances bandits and other criminal elements have in causing untold hardship for innocent citizens, deny them a chance to breathe, stop their nasty activities at all cost.

“You should not wait until they come, do not position yourselves in self defense, take the fierce fight to their enclaves, do all that you can to bring the bandits and other criminal elements to book or eliminate them from the soil as the situation may grant.

“Enough is enough, take this directives deeply into your hearts, keep them as the eyes of the entire nation are counting on you to free our country from all sorts of security challenges, fire them back anytime they fire you, the restoration of lasting peace is now deposited in your patriotic hands”, IGP Disu has warned.

Earlier, Governor Dauda Lawal who was represented by the State Secretary of the Government (SSG), Abubakar Muhammad Nakwada, while extending the state government condolences to the federal government and the Nigeria force headquarters over the great loss of the braves officers, pledged continued support and collaboration to end the banditry in the state.

“The state government under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal, will not relent its efforts in encouraging our gallant Police officers, troops of the Nigerian Army, DSS, NSCDC, state government recruited CPG and all other assisting wings including members of the Civilian JTF with a view to ensure total liberation of the good people of Zamfara State from banditry and other heinous crimes”, the SSG has assured.
