The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will campaign in the 2027 general elections on the record of economic reforms, infrastructure development and national transformation achieved under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The Minister stated this on Monday in Minna, Niger State, during the inauguration of the APC Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, where he expressed confidence that the achievements of the Tinubu administration and APC-led state governments would form a central part of the party’s campaign message.

This is according Rabiu Ibrahim, the Special Assistant (Media) to the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, in a statement today, Tuesday October 27.
According to the statement, Idris said the administration’s economic policies and development initiatives over the past three and a half years have begun to address longstanding structural challenges, strengthen the foundations of the Nigerian economy and create opportunities for sustainable growth.
“The truth of the matter is that the Nigerian economy and the Nigerian people have been transformed by the administration of the APC under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. And we are going to campaign on the records that the President has made in the last three and a half years,” the Minister declared.
He described the APC as the party to beat in the forthcoming elections, maintaining that the performance of President Tinubu and APC governors across the country has strengthened the party’s standing and provided a compelling record of achievements to present to Nigerians.
According to the Minister, the Renewed Hope Agenda has introduced far-reaching reforms aimed at correcting longstanding economic distortions, improving public finances, attracting investment and expanding critical infrastructure. He noted that these reforms, alongside ongoing development initiatives across the country, would feature prominently in the party’s engagement with the electorate.
Idris expressed delight at his appointment to serve in both the Presidential Campaign Council and the Niger State Governorship Campaign Council, describing the dual responsibility as an opportunity to contribute to the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections.
He commended Governor Bago for his leadership and commitment to the development of Niger State, particularly his efforts to strengthen the party’s structures and mobilise stakeholders across the state.
Inaugurating the 525-member Campaign Council, Governor Bago announced that the Niger State APC was targeting more than two million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The Governor explained that the campaign would be driven by an extensive grassroots mobilisation structure spanning polling units, wards, local government areas and the state level, with the participation of party officials, political appointees and other stakeholders.
He disclosed that the broader political network supporting the campaign had grown to more than 100,000 members over the years, providing a formidable organisational platform for the party’s electoral activities.
“If everybody would bring their own votes, it would give us more than one million votes. But our target is beyond that. The ambition this time around is to bring out over two million votes, and by the grace of God, we will do that,” Governor Bago stated.
The Governor also announced that the APC North Central Presidential Campaign Office in Minna would be commissioned the following week, with the possibility of attendance by President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives or the APC National Chairman.
The inauguration attracted party leaders, political officeholders and stakeholders from across Niger State, marking a major step in the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
