The Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, on Friday, charged corps members posted to serve in the state to be ready to receive a throughout and comprehensive orientation course package by the scheme to tackle the challenges of Nation building that lie ahead.

Kefas made this statement during the official opening and swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course held at the NYSC permanent orientation camp Sibre in Ardo-Kola local government area of the State.
Represented by the Chief of staff government house administration, Dr Jeji Williams, Kefas highlighted his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, stating that it places a high premium on youth development and acknowledged the crucial role of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme in nation-building.
He urged the corps members to live up to expectations, noted that their predecessors had contributed significantly to improving the quality of life in rural areas, and expressed confidence in the corps members’ potential to drive positive change.
“My administration places high premium on Youth Development. We therefore consider Youth Corps Members and the NYSC Scheme as one of the crucial development partners, endowed with energy, training, talent and skills needed to galvanize the state and indeed the Nation to the society of our dreams.
“Your predecessors contributed immensely to the improvement of the quality of our people, especially, in the rural areas. I expect nothing less from you. It is imperative to remind you that the Nation sees in you solution to its myriad challenges, I therefore enjoin you to live up to this expectation.
“I called on all camp officials drawn from various organizations, to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that these corps members receive a throughout and comprehensive orientation course in readiness to tackle the challenges of Nation building that lie ahead.
“I want to reassure you that my administration will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the security and welfare of corps members in the State will remain our utmost priority during and after the Orientation Course. We will also strengthen our synergy with the NYSC management and other critical stakeholders towards providing support for the realization of the laudable programme and activities of the Scheme in the State,” he said.
Speaking earlier, Mr Ella Aji Williams, NYSC state coordinator while commending the state governor for always providing security and welfare to the scheme, urged corps members posted to serve in the state to participate in all camp activities.
“I enjoin you to seize the opportunity to acquire economic skills which will compliment your academic qualification and ultimately make you self-reliant and more marketable at the end of your service year,” he said.
