The EOD team of the Niger State Police Command has successfully recovered a suspected military unexploded ordinance device.
The device was identified as UXO missile or military unexploded ordinance which source is yet unknown.
The Police rendered the device safe and recovered it to custody, before its onward movement to the State Police Headquarters, Minna.
A statement issued by the Command, signed by the Police Public Relations Offiecr, SP Wasiu Abiodun in Minna stated that further investigation is ongoing and other developments will be made public in due course.
This feat was achieved following the report received from DPO Ibbi Division, Mashegu Local Government Area of the State, which indicated that some locals in Zugurma community sighted an object suspected to be a missile in the forest.
The Police operatives of the Division swung into action and moved to the scene and cordoned the area for safety.
Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, directed the EOD-CBRN unit of the Command led by CSP Mohammed Mamun mobilised to the location.
The Police Commissioner also urged members of the public to remain calm as all security agencies are working assiduously and making efforts to ensure that normalcy is restored in the identified areas of concern.
