The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is taking deliberate and necessary steps to stabilise Nigeria’s economy, strengthen national security, and lay the groundwork for long-term prosperity.

The Minister stated this on Friday night at a dinner with All Progressives Congress (APC) support groups held at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.

Rabiu Ibrahim, the Special Assistant (Media) to the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation conveyed the message in a statement on Saturday.

(R–L) The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, fnipr; the Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu; Adenike Abubakar; Mr. Moshood Abiola; and others during the 2025 Dinner Party with the APC Support Group held on 19th December 2025 in Abuja.

Addressing party leaders and members of the APC support groups, Idris thanked them for their loyalty and continued support, describing them as a critical pillar of the party and its success.

He said the APC came into government at a difficult time for the country, requiring bold decisions to address long-standing economic and security challenges, while keeping the future of Nigeria in focus.

According to the Minister, the Tinubu administration has already recorded positive signs from its reform agenda, including improved investor confidence, increased oil production, better revenue performance, and targeted support for states, businesses, and vulnerable Nigerians.

He stressed that transparent communication and citizen engagement remain central to the administration’s approach, noting that reforms must be explained clearly to Nigerians to build trust and shared national purpose.

The Minister also highlighted the 2026 budget estimates of N58.18 trillion presented earlier in the day by President Tinubu to the National Assembly, noting that Defence and Security, Infrastructure, Education, and Health received priority attention.

Quoting the President, Idris said the four sectors are closely linked, as security is essential for investment, education and health drive productivity, and infrastructure supports jobs and enterprise growth.

He explained that national security remains a top priority in 2026, with plans to modernise the armed forces, strengthen intelligence-driven policing, improve border security, deploy technology-based surveillance, and support community-level peacebuilding and conflict prevention.

The Minister described APC support groups as more than election-time mobilisers, saying they are key partners in defending facts, countering misinformation, and explaining government policies to the public.

He urged them to actively support the 2026 budget, tagged the “Budget of Consolidation, Renewed Resilience and Shared Prosperity,” and help Nigerians understand its goals and benefits. “As ambassadors of our party, your role in mobilising, informing, and strengthening public confidence in our policies is more important than ever,” Idris said.

He assured the support groups that their sacrifices and contributions are recognised and appreciated, adding that the government and party remain committed to inclusion, fairness, and rewarding hard work.

The Minister called for unity and renewed commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, urging party members to continue working with President Tinubu to build a stronger, more secure, and more prosperous Nigeria.

The event was attended by the Honourable Minister of State, Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigari, the Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority, Abdulhamid Dembos; Director General Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr Mohammed Bulama; Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, Jibrin Baba-Ndace, and the leaders of several APC Support Groups.
