From Femi Mustapha, in Kaduna

Terrorists have set farms on fire in Birnin Gwari communities of Kaduna State, destroying harvested maize running into millions of Naira.

The terrorists were reportedly led by a kingpin, Yellow Jamboss, who, in an audio that went viral, appeared mean and unremorseful.

Locals said the terrorists set fire to harvested maize on 6 farms in Kwaga village and Unguwar Zako in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The affected farmers said they had toiled for nothing as they were now left with no crops to sell or keep in their barns.

Officials of a local group in Birnin Gwari Emirate said the incident happened on Sunday night.

“They stormed the farms and set fire to all the harvested maize. There is a video clip showing the burnt farms, and the owners consoling themselves.”

“The affected farm owners include Kabiru Halilu Kwaga, who had harvested over 160 bags of maize last year and was hoping for an even larger harvest this year. However, all of his crops were set ablaze by the terrorists. “

“Surajo Kwaga, who had harvested 40 bags of maize from his farm last year, also lost his entire crop to the fire. Malam Dan Gido, who had harvested 50 bags last year and was expecting about 65 bags this year, had his hopes dashed.”

“Jibril Haladu Kwaga also lost his harvested maize in the incident. The affected farmers prayed for divine consolation for their losses.”

Ishaq Usman Kasai, Chairman of the Birnin Gwari-Niger Inter-boundaries Communities Association, stated that the bandits responsible for the destruction were part of the group led by the notorious kingpin Yellow Jambros, who has been terrorizing communities in Birnin Gwari LG.

There was yet, no reaction from the police or the state authorities on the destruction.
