Ghanaian singer Captan has alleged that dancehall star Shatta Wale once helped Nigerian Afrobeats singer Burna Boy secure bail after he was reportedly arrested in Ghana for smoking cannabis.
Speaking during a recent podcast interview, Captan claimed that Shatta Wale instructed him and several others to assist Burna Boy following the alleged arrest.
According to Captan, the incident happened during Burna Boy’s early days in Ghana before he rose to global fame.
“I once bailed Burna Boy out of prison in Ghana when he was arrested for smoking weed. Shatta Wale sent me and some guys to go and free him from police custody,” Captan said.
The singer further claimed that Shatta Wale and his team also provided protection and accommodation for Burna Boy at a time when some unidentified individuals were allegedly threatening his life.
“There was a time we also accommodated him when some people were after his life. We helped him settle the case,” he added.
Captan also disclosed that his relationship with Burna Boy deteriorated following the Nigerian singer’s fallout with Shatta Wale.
Despite the strained relationship, Captan said both he and Shatta Wale are willing to reconcile with Burna Boy if he reaches out to them.
