A Security expert, Muhammed Bello Bakyasuwa has commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa over initiative for the establishment of Joint Military Theatre Operations in the North West to tackle insecurity across the region.
Bakyasuwa, the immediate past Commandant, Zamfara Anti Thuggery Agency, noted that the ongoing military operations is capable of addressing security situation that had been bevelling the state and region for over a decade.
Recently, the Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa had, during his one-day visit to Zamfara state, said a joint Military Theatre Operation would be established in the region.
The CDS said the theater would be named “Operation Fansar Yamma”, meaning Rescue North West Operations”.
Bakyasuwa applauded the effort of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), for working towards establishment of the theatre command in Zamfara.
“The operation FANSAN YAMMA” will combat the lingering security challenges in the state such as cattle rustling, banditry activities, illegal mining, drug abuse and kidnapping”, he said.
“The security situation has been bedeviling the state for over a decade.
“As we are looking forward for the appointment of the Theater Commander and his lieutenants, those are other sector commanders.
“This is in accordance with the military rules of engagement.
“However, I believed the proactive approach of military battle formation on the ground will bring about sustainable peace in Zamfara State and the Northwestern region of the country.
“Being a security expert, former Director of Security Matters, and former Commandant Zamfara State Anti Thuggery Agency, I appreciate the Nigerian Army over recent breakthrough in the fight against terrorism in the North West region.
“The ongoing military operations in the region have yielded positive results.
“The Defence Chief is justifying the confidence given to him by the Nigerians.
“I think one of the success of the ongoing operations is neutralizing a wanted terrorist, Halilu Sububu among other bandit kingpins.
“I am therefore happy to praise the efforts of the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa for achieving these successes.
“As indigene of Zamfara, I have to be more concern and hopeful towards addressing the lingering security challenges facing the state.
“As the former Director of Security Matters in the state, I am in a position to say that the Operation Hadarin Daji that have been operating in the state over the years. But the operation was not that effective to put the menace on hold.
“I also commend the entire security agencies in the country for the improved security in the nation.
“I enjoin our gallant troops to sustain their efforts in restoring peace and stability in the country”, Bakyasuwa said.
