The Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has convened an expanded security meeting to address the pressing security challenges in the state, in view the threat of impending nationwide protests.
The meeting had in attendance heads of security agencies, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, and religious leaders.
This was according to a statement, Tuesday, by Ismaila Uba Misilli, the Director-General (Press Affairs) at the Government House in Gombe.
The meeting, held behind closed doors, reviewed the current security situation focusing on the looming threat of protest.
Participants expressed views on how best to address the challenging times toward a more secure and prosperous Gombe State.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, while addressing the meeting, emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order, stressing that the safety of all residents of Gombe State remains a top priority of his administration.
He urged leaders at various levels and security agencies to work closely and create a cohesive strategy that not only addresses immediate security concerns but also fosters long-term stability and development.
He reiterated the position of the Inspector-General of Police that all individuals planning to demonstrate or protest must properly identify themselves and follow the law by seeking the necessary security permissions and protection.
He assured the people of Gombe State that the government, in collaboration with security agencies and community leaders, is fully committed to safeguarding their well-being.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, Commissioner of Police, State Director of Security, Commander 301 Artillery Regiment, Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, heads of para military organisations; Emirs and Chiefs, Local Government Council Chairmen, religious leaders and relevant government officials.
