The Maiduguri based El-Kanemi Warriors Football Club have been fined  One Million Naira by the Nigeria National League (NNL) for indecent conduct during the team Day One fixture against Nasarawa United at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
Head of El-Kanemi’s Supporters Club had led his group to  encroach the pitch of play after a goal El-Kanemi scored through penalty was cancelled  by the referee.
The supporters equally made attempts to assault the referees but for the quick intervention of security operatives that halted the assault.
NNL Disciplinary Committee headed by Hon. Yakubu Salma strongly condemned the development in its entirety and described it as a show of shame punishable under NNL rule book.
Invoking the provisions of section 16.4 of the rules and regulation, El-Kanemi Warriors was  fined the stipulated sum of One Million Naira (N1m).
Furthermore, the head of El-Kanemi Warriors Supporters Club was placed on a ban for the rest of the on going Super eight. He was ordered to stay away from and near the stadium.
The NNL also advised the management of the El-Kanemi Warriors to as a matter of urgency educate its supporters more on football rules and that guiding NNL.
It would be recalled that Nasarawa United defeated El-Kanemi Warrior during the opening of the Super 8 Playoff at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Stadium Enugu on Tuesday 8th June.
The Maiduguri-based team got a penalty which hit the goalpost but wrongly scored, the goal is cancelled by the Centre Referee due to offside.
This decision made the supporters of El-kanemi Warriors to troop into the pitch and obstruct the game for few minutes until the intervention of security personnel who managed the situation and allow the match to continue to the end.
