The National Assembly leadership and that of the organised Labour led by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, are presently holding an emergency meeting with the aim of averting the proposed national strike billed to take off Monday.
The meeting which is holding in the National Assembly complex is being presided over by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill, with the Speaker, House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas in attendance.
Our correspondent reports that those present were principal officers, Chairmen of various Committees from both Chambers.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume led the Ministers for the meeting while, the NLC President, Joe Ajeoro and TUC President Festus Asifo led members of the organised Labour.
Akpabio while welcoming them said that they as lawmakers are not taking the job of the Executive or that of Labour, saying that it will be difficult to negotiate while on strike.
