The Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has extended warm congratulations to the people of Katsina State and all Nigerians as the nation marks its 27th Democracy Day.
The congratulatory message was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed made available to the Citizenship Daily Newspaper in Katsina on Thursday 11th June, 2024.
According to the statement, governor Radda described June 12 as a date that carries the weight of the Nigerian people’s collective resolve to choose freedom, fairness, and democratic governance.

He noted that the day serves as a reminder of how much was sacrificed so that Nigeria could stand on the foundation of democratic ideals and principles.
The Governor paid glowing tributes to the sons of Katsina State whose contributions to Nigeria’s democratic journey remain indelible.
He honoured General Shehu Musa Yar’adua, whose courage and unwavering commitment to national development laid solid foundation for democratic transition in Nigeria.
He remembered with deep respect the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, who dedicated his life to the service of Nigeria both in military and civil leadership.
In the same vein, Governor Radda celebrated the legacy of the late President Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’adua, whose short but impactful presidency was defined by his respect for the constitution and his genuine love for the Nigerian people.

Governor Radda commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s who was also a frontline defender of democracy that gave birth to June 12 Democracy Day Celebration.
He stressed President Tinubu’s consistency in championing civil liberties, popular participation, and the rule of law over the decades which gave birth to Nigeria’s democratic evolution which cannot be overlooked.
Governor Radda also called on all Nigerians to reflect on the meaning of democracy day and rededicate themselves to it’s values and tenants towards enduring accountability, social justice and protection of citizen’s rights.
He appealed to the people of Katsina to continue to support good governance, peaceful coexistence, and the developmental efforts of his administration.
“Democracy is not just a system of government, it is a promise which we made with people*.
“lets renew that promise and work together to build Katsina and a Nigeria which every citizen can be proud of,” the Governor stressed.
He warmly felicitates with the people of Katsina and all Nigerians on the Democracy Day celebration, and prays for continued peace, unity, and progress for the dear nation.
