The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has given retired civil servants still occupying government offices 48 hours to comply with a directive by the Head of the Civil Service to immediately hand over their offices.
The commission disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its Acting Executive Chairman, Hafsat Ada’u Kutama, Esq.

The directive followed the commission’s reaction to Circular No. 10/2026, with reference number HCS/GEN/3/T.I, issued by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service on October 6, 2026, directing all retired civil servants to hand over immediately.
PCACC said it was concerned about the continued stay of some retired officers in government service, particularly where such officers continue to receive salaries or use government property after reaching the statutory retirement age or completing the required years of service.
“The continued stay in service, collection of salaries and use of government property after statutory retirement is a flagrant violation of the Kano State Civil Service Rules and an act of economic sabotage against the State,” the commission said.
Consequently, the commission directed all retired civil servants affected by the circular to comply with the Head of Civil Service’s directive within 48 hours.
It also directed all Permanent Secretaries and Directors of Administration to submit to the commission, before Friday, October 10, 2026, lists of officers who have retired either by age or years of service but are still occupying government offices.
According to the commission, the measure is intended to identify and address cases of retired personnel who may still be performing official duties or accessing government benefits despite having exited the service.
PCACC further announced the establishment of a confidential whistleblower channel through which civil servants can report any retired officer still occupying a government office.
The commission provided 08034677340 as the telephone number for such reports and urged civil servants with relevant information to make use of the channel.
It warned that any officer found to have received, or aided the receipt of government salary after retirement would be investigated accordingly.
