From Femi Mustapha, in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Government, in collaboration with UNICEF, has launched a life-saving nutrition program designed to provide Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTF) to children suffering from severe acute malnutrition.

The launch event took place at the Council Chamber of Kaduna State and was attended by Governor Uba Sani and Wafaa Saeed Abdelatef, the UNICEF Country Representative.

Governor Sani expressed his pleasure at hosting the UNICEF team and commended the organization for its support of the state’s initiatives in health, nutrition, education, and water, sanitation, and hygiene.

He noted that this partnership has led to measurable progress in improving the lives of women and children in the state. “We believe that no community can thrive without access to quality healthcare, clean water, and good nutrition,” he stated.

The Governor emphasized the importance of human capital development, highlighting the state’s ongoing efforts to build schools and hospitals while providing essential amenities.

He reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring that every child has access to quality healthcare and nutrition. “We will continue to invest in saving lives and supporting the most vulnerable in our society,” he added.

UNICEF Country Representative Wafaa Saeed Abdelatef commended the Kaduna State Government for its commitment to enhancing children’s well-being.

She noted that the state has made considerable progress in addressing malnutrition and other health challenges.

“Kaduna State is one of the states that has made significant and commendable progress regarding the well-being of children,” she remarked.

The distribution of RUTF is a crucial initiative that delivers therapeutic food to children suffering from severe acute malnutrition.

This program is expected to benefit thousands of children in the state and will be implemented in partnership with the state government and other stakeholders.

The launch of the RUTF distribution marks a significant milestone in the partnership between the Kaduna State Government and UNICEF.

This event underscores the commitment of both parties to improving the lives and well-being of children in the region. As Governor Sani emphasized

, “Together, we will continue to build a community where every child is healthy, well-nourished, and full of potential.”
