Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, has urged the newly elected Chairmen of the 13 Local Government Area of the State to be transparent and accountable while discharging their duties.
Governor Sule who made the call while swearing in the newly elected LG chairmen on in Lafia urged them to execute projects and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of their people.
Sule described the election that ushered them into power as one of the most transparent and peaceful election in the State
According to him, ” you are to embraced transparency, accountability, probity and above all, the prudence in the management of public resources.
” I want to congratulate you the elected chairmen and 147 Councillors for your emergence.
” Your emergence is a reflection of confidence that electorate reposed in you.
“I call on you to justify the confidence reposed in you by turning around the fortune of your respective local government areas” he said.
Sule also commended security agencies for maintaining peace before, during and after the election in the state.
Besides, the Governor further urged them to promote unity and peace in their respective local government areas.
Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated LG Chairman, Mohammed Haliru Arabo, the Chairman, Lafia Local Government Area appreciated the Governor and electorates of the state for the confidence reposed in them and pledged to lead their people with the fear of God.
It would be reported that the state independent election commission NASIEC conducted LG elections on Saturday 2nd November where the ruling All Progressive Congress won the chairmen of 13 LGA and 140 Councilors while Social Democratic Party picked 4 Councilors in Nassarawa Eggon LGA, 1 in Akwanga and Zenith Labour Party succeed with 2 Councilors in Doma LGA.
Those sworn in as Chairmen included Safiyanu Isah Andaha- Akwanga LGA, Umar Abubakar Dan’ Akano-Awe LGA, Jonathan Okuba Addra-Doma LGA, Barr. Abubakar Aliyu Madaki- Karu LGA, Adamu Aboki Usman-Keana LGA, Dr Idris Ahmed Danmagani- Keffi LGA, Agbawu Mek Agbawu-Kokona LGA, Mohammed Arabo Haliru-Lafia LGA, Mohammed Hassan Ahmed-Nasarawa LGA, Barr Iliya Ibn Aliyu – Nassarawa Eggon LGA, Mohammed Isa KK- Obi LGA and Pharm. Ahmed Baba Yahaya – Toto LGA as well as Ezekiel Musa Jagga- Wamba LGA.
