From Abubakar Abdullahi, in Lafia
The Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has justified why he relieved the Secretary to the state government Mohamed Ubandoma and 14 other Commissioners of their appointments.
Recall that the SSG and Commissioners were laid off during their meeting with the Governor at government house in Lafia on January 3.
Addressing the SSG and Commissioners prior to their removal from office, Governor Sule acknowledged the tension his estwhile SSG and Commissioners had gone through due to the imminent sack, saying it is normal to have change of cabinets.
” I know a lot of you are in tense, you’re in tense because for the past weeks or months you’re tense about possible change of some of the commissioners”.
He said he ignored pressure from people who far before now put pressure to ensure change of cabinets so that new members can be accommodated.
According to Governor Sule, ‘definitely, there are a lot of people who played one role or the other and they’re waiting for an opportunity for the possibility of change of guard so they would have role to play in the administration.
“To go in line with some of the system of this culture of change, we’ve no choice than to do it in other to be able accommodate certain people.”
Governor Sule explained that all the cabinet members have contributed positively to his administration. and that he will feel guilty dropping some and leaving others.
” I will feel guilty doing that because of the fact that everyone of you put in so much in this administration but I think it is certain we’ve to take a decision as management so that we come back quickly to put a team to run this year budget.”
” That is the reason why instead of dropping anyone of you which I don’t intend to, rather, at this moment we’re going to lay off the whole exco.’
Govern Sule said the decision he took to dissolve his cabinet would give him time frame of one or two weeks to constitute new one.
