From our correspondent, in Gombe

The Gombe State government and Osprey Investment Group UK, a renowned British consultancy and investment firm, have begun talks to develop key sectors of the economy in the state.

This will hopefully create  more opportunities for sustainable development and prosperity as planned by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

A statement, Sunday, by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General (Press Affairs) at the Government House in Gombe said a meeting to that effect has held today (Sunday, April 14) at the Government House Gombe between the Gombe State Governor  and Mr. David Winn, Chairman of Osprey Investment Group UK.

Both parties were said to have expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of collaboration across various sectors including Agriculture, Energy, and Trade.

Mr. Winn outlined his company’s expertise in project management consultancy and transaction advisory services, emphasizing its ability to facilitate strategic partnerships and provide solutions aimed at enhancing the growth and development of Gombe State.

“Osprey Investment Group, with over 50 years of experience in Nigeria, specializes in consultancy, project management, and investment. The company boasts a track record of executing projects efficiently and professionally, in collaboration with world-class technical partners”.

As part of their proposed partnership, Osprey Group intends to leverage its extensive network to link Gombe State to key development partners, including the Qatari and Saudi entities among other high profile international institutions and organisations, the statement said.

The investment Group is also said to have indicated willingness to assist in the formulation of comprehensive master plans for agriculture and energy sectors, tailored to unlock the state’s untapped potential.

“Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasized his administration’s commitment to the development of Gombe State, citing the 10-year development plan, known as DEVAGOM. This plan, meticulously crafted through extensive consultations with various stakeholders, aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aims to drive growth, development, peace, and prosperity for all residents of Gombe State.

“Highlighting key initiatives such as the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park in Dadinkowa, Governor Inuwa Yahaya also stressed the state’s focus on industrialization and job creation.

“He also pointed out the vast potential in sectors such as solid minerals and agriculture, where Gombe State holds significant resources and a large workforce.

“Of particular interest is Gombe’s abundant livestock and vast Wawa Zange grazing reserves, which he noted,  with effective collaboration, could transform the state’s agricultural landscape and stimulate economic growth along the value chain,” the statement said.
