Following the recent outbreak of fire at the Funtua Central Market, Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has donated N50 million to the affected victims.
Chief Press Secretary (CPS), to the Governor, Malam Ibrahim Mohammad Kaulah made this known in a statement to the Citizenship Daily in Katsina on Wednesday
He explained that Governor Radda announced the donation while inspecting the quantum of damage done to goods and property in market on 30th April, 2024.
According to the statement, the leadership of Funtua Local Government Council and officials of the Central Market conducted the Governor round to assess the situation.
While conducting him round, the Governor announced a donation of N50 million to the victims pointing out it is not a compensation but rather as financial aid to help the victims recover from their economic losses.
Governor Radda also directed the Funtua local council authority to work together with the central market leadership and adopt to take an effective measures that would prevent future fire outbreaks in the market.
While expressing sympathy over the unfortunate incident, Radda prayed for divine protection against future occurrence.
He advised Muslim traders to regularly give out “zakkat” pointing out that it is an obligation on them, stressing that it is an act that would protect them spiritually as well as guard their properties against disasters and calamities.
