The Bauchi State Government has honoured Comrade Aliyu Mohammed for his elevation to the rank of the new General Secretary of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE).
The event, hosted by Governor Bala Mohammed, celebrated Comrade Aliyu’s milestone achievements and his distinguished public service in the labour union.


The reception, organised by the Office of the Special Adviser to Governor Bala Mohammed on Labour Matters, brought together labour leaders, civil servants and government officials to celebrate what was described as a significant achievement for both Bauchi State and the labour movement.
Speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad on Labour Matters, Comrade Usman Danturaki, said the honour was in recognition of Comrade Aliyu Muhammad’s years of dedication and commitment to workers’ welfare.
He said Comrade Aliyu is the second person from Bauchi State to achieve this highest feat in the labour union apart from Comrade Abdullahi Shehu who was appointed General Secretary of National Union of Banks and Financial Institutions Employees NUBIFE in the 1980’s.
He described the new General Secretary’s elevation as a reflection of his competence, hard work and contributions to organised labour at both state and national levels.
Danturaki described Comrade Aliyu Muhammad’s emergence as AUPCTRE General Secretary as a source of pride for the state and evidence of the quality of labour leadership produced by Bauchi.
He also acknowledged the contributions of labour veterans whose mentorship, he said, had strengthened the labour movement over the years.
Danturaki congratulated the labour leader and urged him to continue projecting the image of Bauchi State positively while discharging his new responsibilities.
Comrade Danturaki, commended the cordial relationship between the state government and the labour unions and explained that the State had not witnessed any industrial action since 2019, a development he linked to Governor Bala Mohammed’s efforts to improve the welfare of civil servants and maintain open dialogue with labour unions.
He said the cordial relationship between government and organised labour has helped foster stability and productivity within the public service.
Also speaking, the Head of Civil Service, Barrister Mohammed Sani Umar, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Establishment, Barrister Dawood Mahmoud, expressed confidence in Comrade Aliyu Muhammad’s ability to succeed in his new role and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of workers’ interests nationwide.
The National President of AUPCTRE Comrade Benjamin Anthony said Aliyu served AUPCTRE with distinction and to the admiration of many people and to the glory of Almighty Allah.
Benjamin said His contributions to his country and humanity cannot be overemphasised by virtue of his humility and exemplary life.
He said they were together for more than a decade and Aliyu has displayed leadership qualities and proven that he can be trusted with positions where people benefit.
Benjamin said His emergence as the General Secretary does not only attest that he is loved by his people but provided another opportunity for him to bring glad tidings to his people through and the country At large.
He said in AUPCTRE they mentored people to attain leadership position and Aliyu grow through the ranks even before his appointment he was the former Head of Department finance and expressed confidence that Comrade Aliyu will justify the confidence reposed in him .
In his speech, Comrade Aliyu Mohammed expressed gratitude to the Bauchi State Governor,Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed,his government office of the head of civil service and the labour unions for the honour done to him.
Comrade Aliyu pledged to be a good ambassador of the State at the national level.
He said that Bauchi is his root, and that he started his career from Bauchi and will always count on their support to succeed.
Comrade Aliyu Mohammed is a committed labour activist who hails from Bauchi Local Government area of Bauchi state.
He began his career in the civil service at the Hospital Management Board in Bauchi State.
