Suspected armed bandits have invaded and abducted the Chairman of Bungudu local government area of Zamfara State, hon. Nura Umar Abdullahi, killing four other persons including two Police men and two local vigilante who attempted to resist the abduction.
A family source revealed that, the LG Chairman was abducted alongside his mother, wife and two children, but said were later released and went away with the LG boss alongside health personnel serving at FMC Gusau and a young POS operator to their custody.
Reports said scores were badly hit by the stray ammunitions fired by the bandits in their efforts to scare away rescuers from blocking their exit amongst who was a retired treasurer of the state ministry of finance and a senior brother to the abducted Chairman, Bello Umar Abdullahi.
According to his wife, the bandits asked them to go back to home, their breadwinner was the only target not his family members, “They released us at a shallow distance into the bush”.
According to the statement by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Taskforce Operation Fansan Yamma northwest, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, said troops of the OPFY of the Nigerian Army have succeeded in rescuing the family members of the abducted Chairman after fierce gun battle.
