From Victor Edozie, in Port Harcourt

Alhaji Mujahid Asari Dokubo, a notable traditional ruler in Kalabari Kingdom and a former governorship candidate of the Labour party in Rivers State, Prince Tonye Princewill have both donated a sum of 110m to both indigent students, aspiring business entrepreneurs and health needs of Da Ogo Polo, Buguma city of Kalabari in Asari Toru local government area of Rivers State.

The duo made the donation at the first general meeting of Da Ogo Polo community held in Buguma city at the weekend.
Alhaji Asari Dokubo donated 50m for aspiring business entrepreneurs who have a verifiable business enterprise and also donated  the equivalent of another 50m  for  students’ academic empowerment.
According to Dokubo, all students that enrolled in a Polytechnic, School of Health, Technology or University will  receive N30,000 each a month while all postgraduate students and First Degree student’s statutory fees and student Registration will be paid for.
He said aspiring business entrepreneurs from the area who have verifiable business proposal will be empowered with a sum of N50m bringing the total sum to 100m.
Mujahid Dokubo Asari expressed satisfaction that the Da Ogo Polo family in Buguma have  finally produced a new ‘Polodabo’ in the person of  Prince Tonye Princewill saying that the former governorship candidate of Labour party is a notable personality.
“During the debates for governorship election in 2015, an Italian friend of mine called me shouting and asking who is that Obama man (Prince Tonye Princewill) you have in Rivers state?.  The level of intelligence and contacts that Tonye Princewill have  is so rare, not just in Rivers state but in Nigeria and we are lucky to have him run our affairs.
“Many see me contributing to other families I am connected to, but ask me why not the Ogo house? That’s because there was no leadership we could believe in. But now there is,” Dokubo stated.
Earlier in his opening speech,  Prince Tonye T.J.T. Princewill who is also the  traditional ruler of Da Ogo Polo stressed the need for peace, love, unity, and the collective concern between family members  and across the Kalabari community.
He emphasised that  development only thrived where there is peace and stability and urged all members of the family to play their own part in maintaining peace.
He donated  the sum of  10m for education empowerment, entrepreneurship and health need of the community.
He implored the beneficiaries of the money to use it  very wisely and see themselves as premier ambassadors of the family.
The event was graced by notable personalities from the Kalabari kingdom.
