From Joseph Uchenna, Makurdi

The Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Wannune, in Benue State has dismissed the Deputy Rector, Dr Ngurumun Doris Iorchir, from the service of the Polytechnic, over allegations ofoverinsurbordination and unauthorized disclosure of official information among other offences.

The Federal Polytechnic is located in the home country of the Secretary to the Federation Sen George Akume.

The dismissal letter which was addressed to Dr Iorchir, who is also of the Department of Accountancy, was dated 18th August, 2025, and takes immediate effect.

A copy of the letter made available to some section of the media and signed by the Register, Dr Muhammed Ndaeji who also serve as Secretary to the Council, decried the situation where Iorchir, refused to provide some vital documents from your former employers, after two years of probationary period signalling that she had something to hide.

We gathered that having been asked to provide the document that would lead to her confirmation on the job, she instead decided to petition the Rector, Dr Ashinya Tyover.

In the 94-page petition, Dr Iorchir, leveled allegations of financial impropriety against the Rector and immediately followed it up with two other petitions, in which she alleged that the Rector, Chairman, members of Council and other notable personalities within and outside the state were sponsors of terrorism in the state.

The authorities of the polytechnic had then forwarded the petition to the Management’s Disciplinary Committee, which deliberated on the matter and made its recommendations to the Governing Council of the institution, leading to her sack.

According to the letter of dismissal after the end of its emergency meeting held on the 18th August, 2025, the Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic, Wannune, considered and deliberated on the report of the Management’s Disciplinary Committee as it affects Dr Doris Iorchir.

The recommendation reads: “Having established the following cases against you: insurbordination to constituted authority; arrogance to the Rector; and Use of foul language.

“Refusal to appear before the Management Disciplinary Committee; Unauthorized disclosure of official information and your refusal to provide some vital documents from your former employers, after two years of probationary period.

“The Council, based on the recommendations of the Management Disciplinary Committee and in line with Public Service Rules, approved your dismissal with effect from 18th August, 2025.

“Consequently, you are to hand over, all the institution’s properties, identity card inclusive to the Chief Security Officer of the Polytechnic with immediate effect”, the letter stated.

Our sources within the Polytechnic, disclosed in confidence that additionally, one of the things that earned her the sack was that she had allegedly not exhausted all internal mechanisms of resolving conflicts before taking the matter to town.

He explained that as soon as she submitted the first petition to Council, she took it to the public space and followed it with two other petitions wherein she allegedly accused some notable persons as being sponsors of terrorism.
