The Niger State Police command has neutralized a suspected armed robber while engaging them in a gun battle and others were believed to have escaped with gunshot injury.
This is contained in a statement issued by the command Public Relations Officer PPRO SP Wasiu Abiodun in Minna.
He said based on credible information received, Police operatives of Gawu-Babangida Division with some soldiers on a routine patrol along Abuja-Kaduna road, intercepted some suspected armed robbers in which one was killed during exchange of fire.
According to Abiodun, the corpse was deposited in Sabon-Wuse General Hospital Morgue, while a wooden carved gun in form of AK-47 rifle was recovered from the scene.
He added that one handset with a sim card and charms tied to the deceased’s waist were recovered, saying that the handset is being analysed for investigation with a view to arrest other members of the gang.
The Niger State Police Command under the leadership of CP Adamu Abdullahi Ellema has expressed commitment to continue to fight crime and criminality in the state.
