The Parents and guardians of the students of 22 tertiary health institutions that were closed down by the Katsina State Ministry of Health have appealed to the state Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda to review the reports of the two committees that led to the closure of the institutions to reopen them for academic activities to resume.

The Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association of Alliance School of Health science Shema, in Dutsinma Local Government areas of the state, Malam Sani Ahmad made the appeal at a press conference in Dutsinma on Friday.

Malam Ahmad noted that the steps taken by the state government to close down the schools and sanitize the system is a good one as it was meant to safeguard lives of people as well as to uphold professionalism.

He appealed that the schools should be reopened while academic activities can go on while professional and regulatory bodies should be included to asses wether the institutions can get the full license to operate or not.

The Chairman said, “the two committees have done their own findings but the outcome of their investigation lacks merits and was done based on political sentiment which would not yield positive results to governor Radda’s administration.

Similarly, one of the parents of the students ,Malam Shamsu said the closure of the institutions yielded negative results as over ten thousand students (10,000) remained stranded, idle roaming around the streets.doing nothing.

He appealed to the Governor to do something urgently to avoid involvement of students into criminalities.

Shamdu said the two committee’s work misled the government because they put their personal interest above collective interest of the people of the state and the entire society.

He disclosed that parents have invested so much on their children to further their education but government closed the health institutions based the two committee reports.

In her contribution, a mother of three children who are students of the Alliance School, Malama Nana said her children are all orphans, but managed to sponsor them to study in that school despite the economic hardship.

Nana appealed to governor Radda to look into their plight and reopen the tertiary health institutions.

According to her, “to educate a female is like to educate the whole society and mankind”

In their separate remarks, Students Representatives of the closed institutions, Rabilu Kabir and Fatima Abdullahi begged governor Dikko Radda to look into the request of their parents and open the schools for the sake of their future.

Citizenship Daily recalls that about three weeks ago,the Katsina State Government closed down 22 Tertiary Health Institutions for not meeting up to standard while nine (9), others were given the license to continue.
