A senior officer, identified as Lieutenant Commodore M. Buba, was stabbed to death in Kaduna.
The attack occurred when a hoodlum attempted to rob him of his mobile phone and other valuables at the Kawo Bridge.
According to eyewitnesses, the senior officer, who was attending a course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) in Jaji, experienced a flat tire while returning to Jaji.
He exited his vehicle to change the tire when the assailant suddenly appeared and demanded that he hand over his phone. When the senior officer refused, the attacker stabbed him in the chest with a local knife.
Suleman Dahiru, a local vigilante who witnessed the incident, attempted to assist the senior officer but was also stabbed in the hand by the assailant.
Reports indicate that nearby individuals overpowered the assailant and mobbed him, ultimately killing him on the spot. A senior military officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated, “The wounded senior officer was initially rushed to Manaal Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
His body was subsequently taken to the 44 Nigerian Army Referral Hospital’s mortuary in Kaduna for further action.”
Troops in plain clothes, along with police and other civil security agencies, have been mobilized for covert operations aimed at identifying and clearing miscreants loitering around bus stops and other vulnerable areas in Kaduna Metropolis.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer ASP Mansir Hassan confirmed the incident, describing it as “unfortunate.”
He assured the public that the police are doing everything possible to ensure safety in the area and the state.
