The Minister of State for Defense, Bello Mohammed Matawalle has lamented Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State’s alleged deliberate refusal to play his part to end banditry and other criminal activities in the state.
Matawalle made the accusation while briefing newsmen at his Maradun hometown where he met with members of the APC and the teeming supporters who paid him Sallah homage on Sunday.
The Minister disclosed that the federal government has improved the welfare and equipped the military personnel with all needed category of weapons capable of ending the banditry before the year 2025 elapsed as directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“The problem we are still battling with is lack of needed support and cooperation from the Governor Dauda Lawal as our gallant troops were not provided with even accommodation which would operate as camps and magazines.
“Provision and intelligent sharing is integral part of drafted strategies by the Nigerian Army against any targeted places or group of enemies, but the Zamfara State Government is not playing it’s role in that aspect so that the terrorists would have been defeated before now”, Matawalle further lamented.
He assured that, farmers will massively access their farmlands for the 2025 food productions as the ongoing military operations had secured opportunities for displaced communities to return for normalcy.
“The military aggressive approaches against the bandits would continue, this time, as wet season has already started and the terrains would be become more inaccessible, the federal government has provided the troops with fighting helicopters which would still take the fight to bandits’enclaves”, Matawalle assured.
