The Kaduna State Government, through KADSEMA, has initiated the distribution of relief materials to approximately 290,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across the state.

This represents a significant step by Governor Uba Sani’s administration in addressing the challenges faced by IDPs, with plans underway for resettlement efforts.

During the distribution launch in Kajuru Local Government, Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, represented by Mr. James Kanyip, Deputy Chief of Staff, emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing insecurity and promoting safety and prosperity for all.

“To those who have been impacted by these events, I want to offer hope and encouragement. Your current situation is temporary, and we are tirelessly working to bring an end to it. Do not lose hope or let your resilience be broken. Together, we will overcome this challenge and look towards a better future” she said.

Dr. Usman Mazadu, the Executive Secretary of KADSEMA, disclosed that 290,000 displaced individuals across 551 communities in 12 Local Government Areas of Kaduna have been documented. He emphasized that these figures are more than mere numbers; they symbolize lives, dreams, and the resilience of our people.

Mazadu also announced that in the coming weeks, the government will expand the distribution to all affected communities within the identified 12 local governments.
