An 18-year-old woman, Fatima Dalha, has allegedly stabbed her 30-year-old husband in the stomach during a disagreement over wrappers, a phone and some money, items a young wife said belonged to her.
The incident happened in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO SP Nafi’u Habib disclosed this to newsmen today (Monday) in Bauchi, saying specifically that it occurred on Sunday, 25th October, 2026 at about 06:00 o’clock in the morning.
He said what started as a heated argument between husband and wife in Lirr Bajar, Dass LGA, turned bloody.
Nafi’u gave the name of the Woman as Fatima Dalha, 18 years old, who confronted her 30 years old husband, demanding her money, wrappers and phone she said were in his possession.
“Words failed. Tempers flared. The argument turned into a physical fight”.
“In a moment of rage and desperation, Fatima reached for a knife lying close by and stabbed her husband in the stomach, the husband fell, bleeding. The neighbourhood erupted. An angry mob gathered, ready to lynch the young woman.”
He said “Police operatives from Dass Division raced to the scene and saved her from instant jungle justice, while rushing the wounded husband to a Hospital, where he is now hospitalized and fighting to survive”.
Police spokesman said “Behind the uniform, behind the case file, are two young lives, a marriage of barely months, now shattered by anger that could have been resolved with words”.
He said “The suspect has been detained, the knife recovered, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi for discreet investigation”
Nafi’u said “The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu has expressed concern over rising domestic violence cases among young couples, and explained that a moment of anger can destroy two lives forever, and advised couples to seek peaceful means, through family, elders and lawful channels, instead of resorting to violence,”
Commissioner of Police warned against jungle justice and reiterated the Command’s resolve to ensure justice is served professionally and humanely.
