From Femi Mustapha, in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against child trafficking by rescuing 17 children and arresting three suspected traffickers.

The operation took place on November 12, 2025, around 4 p.m., following credible intelligence regarding suspicious movements of children beneath the Danmagaji Flyover in Zaria.

The rescued children, who are of various ages, were allegedly being prepared for trafficking to Abuja and other parts of the country.

The suspects—Musa Shuaibu (21), Sani Mamman (23), and Mubarak Ismail (20)—confessed to taking the children from different locations and transporting them to Abuja and beyond.

Currently, the children are under the care of the police, who are working to locate and reunite them with their parents or guardians. Commissioner of Police CP Rabiu Muhammad commended the operatives of the Danmagaji Division for their swift action and emphasized the Command’s zero tolerance for child trafficking and exploitation.

Muhammad also urged parents to be cautious and not fall victim to syndicates that promise their children a better life in the cities. The suspects will undergo thorough investigations and will be prosecuted upon the completion of these investigations.

The police command encourages parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or individuals in their communities to the nearest police station for prompt action.
