At least four persons have been reportedly killed and several others missing at Anwule village in Oglewu District of Ohimini Local Government Area, Benue State following renewed attacks by suspected armed bandits.
The assailants reportedly invaded farmlands in the area on Monday and Tuesday, killing the victims who were working on their farms.
Residents told citizens hipdaily that the community has been living in fear as the attackers continue to move freely without resistance.
“They killed two (2) farmers on Monday and another two(2) on Tuesday afternoon. Some people are still missing, and today around 5pm, they came into the village again. We’re living in fear,” a resident recounted.
Chairman of Ohimini LGA, Adole Gabriel, who confirmed the incident, said he had reported the attack to the state government and security agencies.
“Four people were killed between Monday and Tuesday by armed herders. The government has already deployed security personnel to the area,” Gabriel stated.
