From Sidi Ibrahim Kaulahii, Gusau

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Zamfara State wing, has staged a peaceful rally demanding immediate and unconditional safe release of abducted teachers and learners under captivity across some states of the federation.

Speaking during the rally in Gusau Zamfara State capital one Tuesday, the NUT Chairman, Comrade Sanusi Abdullahi Anka, said the national body of the union has directed all states wings to stage a peaceful rally to mark a disturbing and emotional atmosphere which befalls on innocent teachers and learners whom were abducted in most states of the federation.
“This is also happening in our state (Zamfara) which highlights the difficult and inhuman condition they continue to endure in captivity. In view of the concerned detention of our colleagues and learners in the den of their abductors without any clear sign of their timely rescue and safe release.
“We stage a rally to say stop the abduction of teachers and students now, protect our profession and the future of our great nation by ensuring adequate security on schools and communities.
“Government must wake up and act to stop banditry in schools, the Zamfara NUT remains committed to pursue every lawful means to ensure the safe return of abducted teachers and students in most states of the federation”, Abdullahi Anka has stressed.
