The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Taraba State has issued an urgent security advisory, warning churches and Christian organizations to suspend or discontinue plans for crossover night services due to a planned attempt by terrorists to cause havoc.
The advisory, signed by the CAN Chairman, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Williams Peter Awoshiri, on Wednesday evening noted that reliable security channels indicating a serious security alert, particularly in hinterlands and outskirts of cities.
“It is wiser to suspend a crossover service today and, by God’s grace, hold many peaceful and joyful crossovers in the years ahead,” statement read.
The CAN chairman emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety stressed that, “The overriding priority is that we all cross into the New Year alive, healthy, and safe”.
Its urged church leaders to treat the advisory with utmost seriousness and promptly communicate it to their congregations.
