The Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani has said that the Security and welfare of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members remains a top priority of his administration.
He said this today (Friday) during the formal opening ceremony of the 2024 National Youth Service Corp
Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course for Corps members deployed to Kaduna State.
Governor Sani, who was represented by the Overseeing Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, also reassured that his administration will continue to support the NYSC Scheme towards achieving its core mandate in Kaduna State.
He, however, encouraged Corp members to take all the orientation course activities seriously, especially the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Training, which is designed to equip you with skills and prepare you for economic self-reliance.
” I extend my hearty congratulations to our vibrant youths on the successful completion of your various academic pursuits. This achievement has qualified you to be called up for your one-year mandatory service to our beloved Country, Nigeria.
“My Dear Corps Members, the NYSC is established to foster National unity and integration. The Scheme has, in the last 51 years, delivered this mandate judiciously through the contribution of your predecessors.
“I urge you to embark on the three weeks Orientation Courses with a focus on becoming ambassadors of peace, national unity, and progress. This one year of National Service is a crucial phase, where you are expected to contribute selflessly to the development of our country. ”
In his remarks, State Coordinator Mr. Hassan Mahmud said a total of a total number of registered corps members- 1979 Corps Members have been registered 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course. and have demonstrated their readiness to embark on this unique phase of their lives, since they started arriving the camp on Wednesday 28th August 2024.
He advised the Corps Members that the regimented nature of the Orientation Course is intended to instill in them a high sense of discipline, resilience, and teamwork, which are essential for both their personal and professional growth.
” I urge you to embrace the core values of the NYSC, i.e., Discipline, Integrity, Selflessness, and Patriotism. These are principles that should guide you throughout the service year and beyond.
“I also enjoin you to actively participate in all camp activities that are carefully designed to equip you with the needed skills that will positively impact your lives during the service year.
“Embrace every challenge and ensure your service year becomes a period of learning, personal growth, and contribution to nation-building.
” At this juncture, I wish to express our profound gratitude to the Kaduna State Government for the continued support, which indeed contributed immensely to the success of the National Youth Service Corps Scheme in the State.” He said
