Recognizing the importance of having good learning and hygiene kits that will make students more attentive to their studies, the Save The Children International SCI presented learning kits to pupils of LEA School Datawa Road and out-of-reach school centers in Rigasa Igabi Local Government area of Kaduna State.
The learning kits are made up of notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, and school bags. The hygiene kits are made up of toothpaste, toothbrushes, bathing soap, body cream, detergent, and sanitary pads for the girls.
Presenting the items to the delighted pupils, the Education Officer of “Education Cannot Wait” (ECW), Miss Favour Iloma, said that the learning materials and hygiene kids are aimed at making inclusive, quality education a reality in Kaduna state.
Adding that, the hygiene kits will also promote the idea of good hygiene in schools. So that children will smell nice in the classroom.
In her remarks, the Desk Officer Special Education Kaduna State Ministry of Education, Mrs Naomi Sunday Shok, applauded SCI for keying into Kaduna State Government’s vision to ensure that every child remains in school.
Mrs Shok said that the government wants every child to be in school learning no matter their physical or mental challenge.
“The government cannot do everything by themselves which is why we need the CSOs and other organisations to join hands with the government in promoting education and ensuring that every child returns to school and stays in school
” My advice to the parents is to make sure that they take their children’s education very seriously because the government, NGOs, and partners are interested in these children’s future, so as parents, they should be deliberate in their children’s education.
” I urge parents not to relent in encouraging their children in their choice to become educated, especially for the girl child who in most homes is already being groomed for marriage.
“Enough of thinking that the girl child is only good for marriage, they should please allow their children to come to school and learn to become that which they want to become in the future she concluded.”
One of the beneficiary pupils, Amina, who received essential hygiene supplies, expressed joy and was grateful to Save The Children International for their support of the girl child and education.
