Police arrest notorious gunrunners, kidnapper’s informant in Kaduna

Kaduna  State   Police Command said it had successfully intercepted two male suspects in possession of a fabricated AK-47 rifle at Madaci Village, Zaria LGA.

This was contained in a statement by the Police Public  Relations  Officer of the Command, ASP  Mansir  Hassan, and made available to the media on Monday.

The statement stated that the two suspects identified as Abulaziz Habibu (male, 25 years old) and Nuhu Thomas (male, 25 years old), both residents of Dogon Dawa, Birnin Gwari L.G.A.

The statement said that the suspects confessed to being involved in the illicit trade of arms, supplying weapons to notorious bandits operating in the Zaria area.

Their confessions have provided crucial leads, and they are currently cooperating with the police in ongoing investigations aimed at identifying and apprehending their accomplices.

“ In a separate operation, on the same date, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tafa Division acting on a credible information received from a reliable source, led a surveillance team to Gidan Abeh Village, Kagarko LGA, where they successfully apprehended one Abubakar Yahuza, a 36-year-old male resident of Gidan Abeh Village.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to running errands and serving as an informant for the kidnappers who reportedly hibernate within the Gidan Dogo Forest.

“In the same vein, On the 18th of August At about, officers of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) stationed in Kuriga, responded swiftly to gunfire heard on the outskirts of the village.

“Upon arrival, they encountered two armed men on motorcycles attempting to abduct two farmers. A brief exchange of gunfire ensued, forcing the bandits to flee and abandon their captives.

“The rescued victims, suffered head injuries inflicted by the assailants and were treated at the Kuriga Primary Health Care center. They have since been discharged.

“The Commissioner of Police CP AUDU ALI DABIG psc commended the officers for their exemplary work in apprehending the suspects and urged the public to continue supporting the police by providing credible information that will help them in carrying out their duties effectively and in the ongoing fight against crime.” The  statement reads
