Police arrest 3 of 5-man criminal gang robbing church goers in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three criminal suspects of a 5-man syndicate terrorizing residents in the state capital using tricycle popularly known as ‘Keke Napep’.
The Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje said in a press release on Sunday that the Police acted based on a credible information received that the 5-man syndicate were attacking and robbing residents trekking to church for usual Sunday service along Bishop street in Jimeta-Yola metropolitan area.
Nguroje said that the operatives of the Command were mobilized to the scene of the crime where they were confronted and overpowered the criminal suspects arresting three while the remaining two escaped.
“In the early hours of 29th December 2024, operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command upon credible information received responded immediately where a five (5) number of Shila boys were attacking and robbing individuals heading to church for early morning prayers and other businesses along Bishop Street, Yola North local government.
“Upon reaching the scene, the suspects aggressively attacked the police officers with the machetes and knives in an attempt to resist arrest. But in  a bid to neutralize the attack, minimum force was used, three (3) suspects were arrested, while two (2) others escaped.
“Recovered items include machetes, knives, ATM cards, phones, and a tricycle which will be treated as exhibits. The injured suspects are now receiving treatment at a hospital and are aiding investigation”, he release said.
Nguroje added that more details will be shared as investigations progress, urging the public to report any suspicious activity to the security agencies for prompt action.
