The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 4, Makurdi, AIG Zacharia Fera Achinyan, has expressed concern over the fire that gutted Mobile Police MOPOL 13 armoury of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF Benue State Command and directed diligent investigation into the incident.
On Sunday 4th January, 2026 at about 10 am, a fire engulfed the MOPOL located some distance away from the Police Command Headquarters, burning down the armoury section completely. The fire was said to have started from the Squadron’s Commander office and razed down other offices.
While on an on-the-spot assessment visit to the burnt Police Mobile Force, PMF Base, the AIG who lamented over the incident, directed the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, to immediately commence a diligent and thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the fire outbreak.
A press statement by ASP Ayo Oluwaseun Martins, Zonal Public Relations Officer, for the AIG Zone 4, further reassured members of the public that the situation has been brought under control and urged them to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities, as adequate security measures have been put in place.
