From Femi Mustapha and Divine Macaulay, in Kaduna

In response to the brutal murder of a Navy officer, who was stabbed to death by a hoodlum on June 8, 2025, near Kawo Bridge, the Kaduna State Police Command has initiated a manhunt for other criminal elements in the area.

This information was shared in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, and released to the media in Kaduna today.

According to the statement, a joint tactical operation was launched in Kawo and its neighboring areas on June 8, 2025. The Kaduna State Police Command conducted raids on criminal hideouts in the Kawo area, resulting in the arrest of 27 suspects. A substantial amount of dangerous weapons and illegal drugs was also recovered during the operation.

In line with the Commissioner of Police’s directive to identify and dismantle criminal elements threatening peace in designated areas, the Command has carried out a series of raids in collaboration with the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), Kadgis, and local vigilantes. This joint effort has led to numerous arrests and the seizure of dangerous weapons.

Items recovered during the operation include knives, axes, cutlasses, and large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, along with other hard drugs.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, PSC, MNi, has reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order throughout the state. He emphasized that Kaduna is a peaceful state and that the police will not tolerate miscreants or criminally minded individuals who threaten public safety.

He strongly advised anyone with intentions to cause violence or disrupt public order to refrain from such actions or leave the state, as the police will continue to clamp down on miscreants and will give them no respite within Kaduna.
