Measles-Rubella immunization campaign takes off October in Adamawa

The Adamawa State government has announced launching of the Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign in the twenty one (21) local government areas of the state.
Executive Chairman of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ADSPHCDA) Dr.Suleiman Sa’idu Bashir made the disclosure at a media engagement in Yola, Wednesday.
He said that the exercise will commence on the 16th to 27th October 2025, urging the public to cooperate with the health teams.
Dr. Bashir explained that the vaccination exercise would be administered to children from 9 months to 14 years old with a view to safeguarding the children from measles-Rubella and other diseases related to the well-being of the children.
“We appreciate the support being render by parents on immunization exercise and therefore call on all and sundry to kindly mobilize their children for the exercise.
“Our health workers and caregivers are being sensitized and grouped in to teams to conduct the vaccination exercise across the 226 political wards in the state”. Bashir assured
In his remarks, the Director, Disease Control and Immunization, Dr Jacob Vasumu said that measles – Rubella campaign is a nationwide exercise stressing that the vaccine is important, free and effective.
Vasumu reiterated the commitment of the Agency in delivering health care to the people in the state declaring that the Proposed immunization will be targeting over 2.5 million children in the state.
While appealing for support and cooperation for the success of the exercise from the public, Vasumu stated that 1024 health workers with additional 1685 adhoc staff have been trained and drafted for the vaccination exercise come 16th October 2025.
In their good will messages as development partners to the Agency, Samuel Sha’abu of AFENET STA. and Dr  Moses Hyellafiya Kussing of IVAC -STA expressed gratitude with the feat confirming that the Measles Rubella vaccines are good for the health of our children urging parents and Guardians to present their wards for immunization.
