Bello Lawal has been elected as the National President of the Association of Local Government in Nigeria.
The new National President emerged at the 50th National Executive Council meeting of the association held in lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
Lawal replaced Aminu Muazu Maifata whose tenure came to an end after serving as President of the organization for 6 months and as two term Lafia local government Chairman for 6 years.
The election of the new President followed his nomination by the ALGON Chairman of Jigawa State, Bala Usman and seconded by his counterpart from Enugu State, Okechukwu Edeh.
Addressing the NEC meeting shortly after taking the mantle of leadership, the new ALGON President Bello Lawal appreciated his colleagues for finding him worthy to lead the association.
He said ” the confidence repose in me would not be taken for granted and I promised to carry every member along in the activities of ALGON.”
“As a President in consultation with other Leaders of the association I will provide the necessary management that every member would enjoy it.”
Earlier in his handing over speech, his predecessor Aminu Muazu Maifata thanked members of the association for the opportunity given to him serve as well as members cooperation.
Maifata promised to continue to contribute for the progress and development of ALGON even as ex-leader.
