From Femi Mustapha and Edirin Robinson, in Kaduna

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has urged the people of Southern Kaduna to keep differences aside and embrace unity for positive results.

General Gwabin made the call while speaking at an event organized by like-minded individuals from Southern Kaduna at the Lt. Gen. LN Yusuf Multi-Purpose Centre in Bara, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, with the theme —Solemn Declaration.

The General expressed a desire for such gatherings to chart the course and pursue a unity of purpose amongst the people of the region, to be the beginning of a better future for Southern Kaduna.

The military Czar, who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Oghogho Christopher Gwabin Musa stressed that the unity of Southern Kaduna is first and foremost to him.

According to him, gathering of Southern Kaduna clerics, politicians, academics, professionals, and youths is a day that he has always a0a0looked forward to for a very long time.

“Moving forward from here is for us to have this discussion, how do we move forward. Irrespective of political differences, when it comes to Southern Kaduna, we should be one,” he added.

“The Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, that was assented by Mr. President, he took it as his drive. During the Federal Executive meeting, they were supposed to consider all the universities.

“Before Mr. President Sat down, he asked, where is that file? And without any discussion, it was approved. He sat down and signed it.

“He told the minister of education that he wants JAMB in September and wants admission in September. Nigerian University Commission, do anything you have to do in September that the University must commence.

“We, the armed forces, will continue to work together in support of this government to ensure that this country is safe, secure, and continue to grow.”

He also called for increased voter awareness and more involvement in politics so that Southern Kaduna can be among those who are determined to become leaders and decision-makers in society.

“First, registration, we must make sure that those of us that are eligible in Southern Kaduna have voters card. On the day of the election, if fire falls from above, stay at the polling unit and vote. We must do things differently if we want a different result.”
