The Katsina State government has condemned the recent killings in Kokami Village in Danja Local Government Area of the State while the Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda commiserates with families of the deceased over the unfortunate incident.
This is contained in a statement by the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr.Nasir Mu’azu issued to Citizenship Daily.
Mu’azu emphasised that Katsina State Government has strongly condemned the tragic killings that occurred in Kokami Village in Yakaji ‘A’ Ward of Danja Local Government Area.
According to him, the incident, occured on April 4, 2026 which began as a disagreement between two individuals; Ibrahim Khalil Auwal and Joe popularly known as K.C. Jones over the purchase of garri and sachet of pure water at K.C. Joe’s shop.
He said the matter started as a minor argument which later turned to violence.
Joe reportedly stabbed Ibrahim Khalil Auwal during the disagreement which as a result, injured the victim who was rushed to Abdullahi Makama Hospital in Dabai, where Auwal was later confirmed dead.
“Following the news of Ibrahim’s death, some angry youths in the community mobilised and attacked Joe and set his body ablaze along the highway” the commissioner disclosed.
The Government described the act as deeply unfortunate and unacceptable and against the values of hospitality and peaceful coexistence in the state.
He said it was a misunderstanding between two individuals, where unpatriotic elements twisted the matter to be like an ethnic or religious conflict.
He said Katsina State Government strongly assured that all those involved in the violence will be brought to book pointing out that the individuals have no right to take the law into their hands, those responsible for both the initial attack and the reprisal killing will be identified and prosecuted according to law.
The government urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and to avoid spreading rumours capable of igniting further crisis.
Mu’azu assured that security agencies have since been deployed to the area while joint patrols are ongoing to maintain peace and order.
The Commissioner said that governor Radda advised religious and community leaders along with stakeholders to support efforts to maintain peace and harmony in their domain.
