In its determination to address humanitarian challenges in the state, the Kano State government has earmarked three billion Naira for various interventions in the year 2025.

This was disclosed by the Technical Adviser to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba while briefing journalists shortly after meeting with members of the state House Assembly during the 2025 budget defence.

Dr. Magashi who delivered the budget defence presentation on behalf of the

He summarized some key interventions as captured in the proposed budget which include establishment of the Humanitarian Interventions Trust Fund, Business case for the Kano State Bank for Poverty Alleviation, development of a 5 year strategic plan and 2025 annual operational plan.

Similarly, the Technical adviser also announced a capacity building for disaster and emergency response officers across the 44 LGAs of the state in addition to the purchase of emergency equipment, procurement and distribution of relief materials to displaced persons and vulnerable people in the state.

Dr Magashi who was in company of the immediate past Commissioner of the Ministry, Hajiya Amina Sani Abdullahi (HOD) expressed gratitude for the gesture done on him by the outgoing Commissioner for her approval to him to make the budget defence presentation before the state Assembly members and eventually addressed the media on the outcome of the meeting.

It could be recalled that on November 12, 2024 Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf appointed Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba as the Technical Adviser to the Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

According to a press statement by the spokesperson to the Governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa who announced the appointment of Dr Magashi, he said that the decision for the appointment was made in order to strengthen the Ministry.
