From Femi Mustapha  in Kaduna

The Kaduna state government has revoked all previous sale and land allocations of staff quarters located within three legacy schools across the state.

The affected institutions include Alhudahuda College, Zaria; Queen Amina College, Kaduna; and Government Commercial College, Zaria.

A statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr AbdulKadir Mu’azu Meyere, today, Tuesday stated that the decision, approved in 2024, was taken in the overriding public interest and to enhance the learning environment within the affected schools.

The statement said all beneficiaries of the revoked allocations have been notified, and arrangements are being made to refund payments as directed by Governor Uba Sani.

The statement further stated that the revocation aligns with the present administration’s commitment to human capital development and its effort to improve infrastructure across educational institutions in the state.

He noted that Governor Sani had prioritized education since assuming office, adding that the administration had constructed over 2,300 new classrooms and renovated more than 700 across Kaduna State.

“Education remains a leveler and a ladder for upward mobility. Effective learning can only take place in an environment free of distractions,” the statement quoted the governor as saying.

It also noted that school fees in state-owned tertiary institutions were reduced in August 2023 to improve access, while hundreds of toilets, boreholes, and furniture for teachers and pupils had also been provided.

The state government, however, said it remains committed to ensuring access to quality education in a conducive environment for every child in Kaduna state.
